High-content single-cell screening (HSC) combines high-throughput automated imaging and analysis to extract quantitative multi-parametric data at the single-cell level. HSC thus could be used to identify toxic pathways of drug candidates to improve psychiatric disease drug discovery and development processes. Creative Biolabs has years of experience in the HSC area and has worked with clients to achieve results in bioassays design and validation for many years. We now provide a comprehensive suite of psychiatric disease research services by HSC technique for global clients.
Drug discovery is an expensive and time-consuming process that typically begins with screening large libraries of compounds against a target. Identifying combinatorial drug candidates has synergistic therapeutic effects, and further complicates this process. HSC is a method that is used in biological research and drug discovery to identify substances that alter the phenotype of a cell in the desired manner. In HSC, cells are first incubated with the substance and after a period of time, structures and molecular components of the cells are analyzed. Using the HSC process, researchers could analyze cells from a certain number of patients and screen thousands of potential compounds for new drugs.
There is a paucity of efficacious new compounds to treat psychiatric disorders. It is reported that scientists present a novel approach to neuropsychiatric drug discovery based on high-content characterization of druggable signaling network responses at the single-cell level in patient-derived lymphocytes ex vivo. Figure 1 depicts the workflow of the study. Compound library screening against the target phenotype identified subsets of corticosteroids and L-type calcium channel blockers as novel therapeutically relevant drug classes with corresponding activity in neuronal cells.
Our HSC portfolio consists of different platforms and innovative software to provide you cutting-edge images and data in no time. Our advanced single-cell screening platforms are designed to provide exceptional resolution for subcellular detection, automated detection, and phenotyping with intact, fixed, or live cells.
HSC method has the potential to discern new drug targets and accelerate drug discovery and personalized medicine for psychiatric disease.
